Cruiser Bike

Cruiser bike designs were the most popular bicycle options of the United States from the early 1930s through the 1950s. They are also referred to as beach cruisers. Their durable and heavy weight construction includes upright seating, single-speed mechanicals, and balloon tires.

The original Cruiser bike was designed by Schwinn. It came out at a time when few bicycles were purchased because of the Great Depression. They were viewed as luxury products.

For this reason, the Cruiser bike was created to appeal to the motorcycle crowds. This meant it was more resilient than the average bike while also motorless and more affordable in comparison to actual motorcycles. It was first marketed as the Schwinn B-10E Motorbike in 1933.
