Dirt Bike

A dirt bike is an off-road motorcycle. These are generally specialized for different sports or activities. However, as a group, they do have general differences when compared to road motorcycles.

For example, a dirt bike will have a smaller and lighter engine than one created for the road. It will also be designed with long suspension travel and high ground clearance in mind. Their construction is rugged with larger wheels and knobby tires that are clamped to the rim. Bodywork is not as much of an emphasis with these designs.

Dirt bike sports include motocross, rally raid, trails, and track racing. The first of these involves racing with jumps. Rallies are a long distance form of racing. Trials emphasize skills other than speed, such as balancing and precision. Track is high speed over oval tracks.
