Kids Bikes

Kids' bikes are usually categorized according to approximate age groups. However, the key word there is "approximate." It is important to take into consideration a child's particular build. For instance, a bike described as being for children between the ages of seven and ten may be better suited to a child who is six with a large build.

There are many benefits to be gained from kids' bikes, in addition to fitness. Bicycles introduce children to balancing, inertia, pedaling, braking, and steering. Tricycles developed for younger children do not offer as much, particular in terms of understanding balance.

The sizes of kids' bikes are determined by wheel diameter. This is in contrast to adult bikes, which are described in terms of seat height and frame size. Generally, children develop sufficient agility, coordination, and balance for training wheel free bicycle riding between the ages of four and eight. However, they are not generally coordinated and strong enough to master breaks until after five. More importantly, most children do not feel ready to ride a bike as soon as they are physically capable of it.
