Mountain Bike
A mountain bike may be known as an "MTB." It may also be called an "ATB" for "all terrain bicycle. As the name suggests, it is designed for off-road travels. This includes covering rocky areas, washouts, and other unpaved environments (both flat and steep.)
In the 1970s, mountain bike sports began to develop. Since then, a variety of new subtypes have also developed. These include all-day endurance, downhill, cross-country, and freeride biking. Subtle differences in bicycle design enable better performance in different areas.
Mountain bike designs do, however, have things in common. Most use 26 inch (660mm) wheels. Their tires are wide and knobby. This allows for both extra traction and better shock absorption as compared to standard designs.
