Racing Bike

A racing bike may also be describe as a road bicycle. They are designed for road use according to the rules of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI.) These rules have excluded recumbent designs since 1934.

Particular focuses of racing bike design include being lightweight and the positioning of the rider for efficient aerodynamics. Of course, the seating position also takes into account ergonomics. However, they are more likely to sacrifice comfort for speed than other styles.

A racing bike will usually have drop handlebars. These are lower than the saddle to keep the rider in the lower, more aerodynamic position. To promote quick handling, the front and back wheels are positioned much more closely than other designs.
