Road Bike

A road bike is a term generally used to describe a racing bicycle. These will usually have multiple gears as well as drop handlebars. However, it may also describe single or fixed gear varieties.

Of course, a road bike may also simply be a bicycle that is meant for travel over paved roads. This is in opposition to those designed for off-road experiences. These may fall under several different categories.

Here are a few different road bike examples:

•Touring bicycles – These are robust and capable of carrying heavy loads over long distances.

•Racing bicycles – Speed is of importance for these designs. For that reason, they are lightweight and aerodynamic.

•Utility bicycles – These are designed for being useful for errands around cities and towns.

•Hybrid bicycles – Bikes created in this fashion are more focused on providing for both practical and recreational needs.
